The implementation of an EHR into any healthcare organization is a complex process that requires proper preparation with dedicated attention to modifications in workflow. If adequate time is devoted to making this change then the system can be leveraged to enhance the quality of care given to each patient. Often organizations rely on the vendor’s templates and implementation procedures, which rarely demonstrate the uniqueness of workflows. The implementation process must encompass the specificity of a practice’s workflow. To avoid negative consequences like a decline in revenue, efficiency, and patient as well as staff satisfaction, be sure to give implementation the time it deserves.
The timeline below lists the major activities within each time frame to ensure success.
